The Best Walking Shoes for Heavier Folks

I’ve been trying to get out for a 30 min walk everyday while we’re all trapped at home. I was really good at the beginning. But, as LA has gotten hotter, my desire to be outside has decreased. It’s hot outchere y’all!

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m in a serious committed relationship with my flip-flops. I’ve even been known to go hiking in them. But, occasionally, even I will find the need to put some shoes on. Usually it is related to having to lug around heavy things for work or at home, and even I know to try to cover my toes! I may have had to learn that the hard way (let's just say I don’t recommend dropping a full gallon of paint on your exposed big toe)! Ouch!

The problem is, as a big woman, my feet are not straight sized and I need more cushioning and support. Like a lot of things, shoes don’t always take into account the needs of every type of body. I remember as a kid, my mom bought all her shoes at Chic Wide Shoes. She always bought the same black lace up shoes that she wore everywhere: work, going out, exercising. I seem to do the same, but just with flip flops! I totally just made that connection as I typed it! HA! But there are more options for us now. Also, Chic Wide Shoes is still a thing! But I digress.

Shoes are a THING. I can, and probably will do posts on a bunch of types of shoes. But right now it does seem like lots of folks are trying to get outside for a little walk since there’s not much else to do right now. Below are some good sneakers for plus size feet.

Caveat, everyone's feet are different and have different needs. If you have one near by (and in store shopping is safe), I recommend going to a running store and getting fitted by the staff. They'll give you recommendations based on your foot shape and how you move, even if you don't buy from them.
