Broken Channel - Unwise Gate Crash EP (Cut Records)
2562 is a relatively well known broken beatish techno producer who has been putting out monster tracks for a while and is known to put together belter sets. His music has always seemed like he had a lot of taste for Dubstep and its original roots. Now he’s given us this EP under the moniker Broken Channel and it’s so awesome.
This is what I really used to miss about the Dubstep scene and culture. For a period there a more relaxed version of Dubstep was really huge. We used to get these awesome tracks just made for floating through afternoons on and when the movement to EDM got so large that kind of production kind of fell off and we were left with the memories of Burial and the people trying to do something similar to what he did.
Not to say this on the same as what Burial has put out but the vibe and intent is definitely there and I really appreciate that this kind of music is still being created and put out.
This release is so solid and definitely something I’ll rinse forever. If this ever got a pressing it’d be on the shelf for constant use for sure.
Favourite track on there is “People”. Big tune.
