Waajeed - From The Dirt (Album)
This is the first album Waajeed has put out in nearly a decade. Not to say he isn’t working. He’s been putting out EP’s left right and centre and slowly been migrating from the Hip Hop tracks I first heard him release into some of the best dance music coming out at the moment.
He was on Benji B maybe a year ago? Anyway he was talking about how he was really enjoying moving into dance music and had some great tutelage from the heads in his city and cited Roy Davis Jr as someone really helping him.
This album is great. Start to finish perfect house music. Such good use of vocal samples. His drums are perfect. They never seem to punchy or to weak and his use of hats and cymbals build tracks up so well.
It’s like he’s been making House music his entire career. As much as I would like to say I’ve been giving the Jay Daniel album some serious listening this week I can’t say I have. This album has controlled my listening since release for sure.
I’ve linked my favourite track from the album. But it’s incredible start to finish. One of the most worthy record purchases I’ve made.
